All, The current GLIF 2008 World Map is two years old and already out of date. You can be downloaded the current map from <www.glif.is/publications/maps/>. The GLIF map illustrates GLIF lambda resources; i.e., high-capacity optical circuits (or lightpath virtual circuits) that terminate at GOLEs (GLIF Open Lightpath Exchanges). The network resources that make up the GLIF are provided by a number of independent optical domain network operators working together to enable quick and easy provisioning of end-to-end lightpaths. These resources are made available for use by global collaboratories of discipline scientists and computer scientists and engineers for application and middleware development. The GLIF map illustrates capacity available *in addition to* bandwidth required for production purposes. Send new and/or updated information about the circuits and GOLEs that qualify as GLIF resources. For those of you who provided information for the current map, I will be contacting you directly to see if you have any changes. Send the following information to Maxine Brown <maxine@xxxxxxx>. (a) network/GOLE name(s) (b) contact person(s) (c) source city; destination city; relevant intermediate cities (d) amount of bandwidth (e) network diagrams (optional) that illustrate your network(s) and connection points, which will prove helpful as we build the GLIF world map Submit your information no later than MAY 19. Thanks for your prompt response, Maxine |
