All, The current GLIF map is almost two years old, and very outdated, so it is time to update! The GLIF 2005 World Map can be downloaded from: The new GLIF map will illustrate GLIF lambda resources; i.e., high-capacity optical circuits (or lightpath virtual circuits) that terminate at GOLEs (GLIF Open Lightpath Exchanges). The network resources that make up the GLIF are provided by a number of independent optical domain network operators working together to enable quick and easy provisioning of end-to-end lightpaths. These resources are made available for use by global collaboratories of discipline scientists and computer scientists and engineers for application and middleware development. The GLIF map illustrates capacity available *in addition to* bandwidth required for production purposes. Send information about link(s) that you control that qualify as a GLIF network resource. At the bottom of this email is the input I collected two years ago. Note, however, that the list below contains both routed and lightpath availability; however, the technology has now evolved enough that we want to showcase lightpath availability only. Review this list and provide additions, corrections and/or comments. I expect many more links in Asia and Europe this time around. The new GLIF map will illustrate GLIF resources that you plan to have in place by September 2007. Send the following information to Maxine Brown <maxine@xxxxxxx>. (a) network name(s) (b) contact person(s) (c) source city; destination city; relevant intermediate cities (d) amount of bandwidth (e) network map(s) (optional) that illustrate your network(s) and connection points, which will prove helpful as we build the GLIF world map Submit your information no later than JUNE 29 so we can begin. Our goal is to send out a DRAFT for your review in July, finalize it in August, and have it ready for distribution at the annual GLIF meeting in September in Prague <http://www.glif.is/meetings/>. Thanks for your prompt response, Maxine * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GLIF 2005 MAP - GENERAL INFORMATION AARnet Contact: George McLaughlin <George.McLaughlin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, David Lassner <david@xxxxxxxxxx> AARnet/10Gb (Sydney to Honolulu to Seattle) AARnet/10Gb (Sydney, transiting NZ (Auckland) to Mauna Kea to LA) Abilene-HOPI Contact: Douglas Van Houweling <DVH@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Rick Summerhill <rrsum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Abilene/10Gb (backbone) HOPI/10Gb (NLR footprint) Abilene-HOPI/10Gb (NYC to London) ASNet/2.5Gb (Taipei to Chicago to Geneva) Contact: Simon Lin <sclin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, "Yu-lin Chang" <ylchang@xxxxxxxx>, Eric Yen <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, AtlanticWave/10Gb (Miami, Atlanta, Washington DC and NYC) Contact: Julio Ibarra <julio@xxxxxxx>, Don Riley <drriley@xxxxxxx> CA*net4 Contact: Bill St Arnaud <bill.st.arnaud@xxxxxxxxxx>, René Hatem <rene.hatem@xxxxxxxxxx> CA*net4-North/10Gb (Seattle-Victoria-Vancouver-Edmonton-Saskatoon-Winnipeg-(north of Great lakes)-Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal-Fredericton-Halifax) CA*net4-South/20Gb (Seattle-Calgary-Regina-Winnipeg-Chicago-Toronto-New York-Montreal-Halifax) HEPnet/10Gb (Victoria-Vancouver-Calgary-Winnipeg-Chicago-Toronto-New York) GLORIAD-KREONet2-TaiwanLight-AARNet/10Gb (Seattle-Vancouver-Winnipeg-Chicago-Toronto) CA*net4/10Gb (NYC to Amsterdam) CAVEwave/10Gb (Chicago to Seattle to San Diego) Contact: Tom DeFanti <tom@xxxxxxx> CENIC (Los Angeles to San Diego) Contact: Jim Dolgonas <jdolgonas@xxxxxxxxx>, Dave Reese <dave@xxxxxxxxx> Multi-gigabit from LA to SD, to connect NLR to San Diego to WHREN CERN transatlantic links...renamed US LHCNet (See below) CESnet/10Gb (Prague to Amsterdam) Contact: Jan Gruntorad <jan.gruntorad@xxxxxxxxx> CSTNet Contact: "Bao-Ping Yan" <ybp@xxxxxxxxxx>, Kai Nan <nankai@xxxxxxxxxx> CSTNet-ASNet/1Gb (Hong Kong to Taipei) CSTNet-NICT/1Gb (Hong Kong to Tokyo) (also see GLORIAD) ESnet-SDN/10Gb (Seattle to Sunnyvale to San Diego) Contact: "William E.
